(WMC-TV) - A national teacher development program is showcasing Shelby County teachers and the good work they do in the classroom.

Fourth grade Teacher Comeshia Williams of Northaven Elementary and fifth grade teacher Michelle Sutton of Collierville's Crosswind Elementary have been chosen for a national professional development program for teachers.

It is called PD 360.

"As teachers, normally we want to just tell them everything, and show them everything, but this gets them to think through and come up with these decisions themselves," said Williams.

The teachers' advice and examples are now in front of more than 850,000 teachers nationwide.

"I'm not only teaching educational skills, but I am teaching social skills because we have to interact, and we have to talk and discuss, and work out the issues," said Sutton.

The two Shelby County teachers are using innovative techniques to help students and inspire teachers across the country.
