Tiger moms travel to support the team

(WMC-TV) – The Memphis Tigers advanced to the third round of the NCAA tournament, but not without heart-stopping moments for their biggest fans: their moms.

A good amount of Tiger fans made the trip to Auburn Hills. They are a big part of the tournament experience, but for the players, so is having family in the stands.

After a tense last few minutes, the Memphis Tigers pulled off a win against St. Mary's.

But you probably won't find anyone more excited about the win than Chris Crawford's mom.

"I was a nervous wreck, I'm like 'ohhhhhh'," Chris Crawford's mom Betty Crawford said. "They tried to take it, but the Tigers they held their composure got that Morgan Ridge off our back."

She watched from the stands Thursday, happy to be moving on.

"I will be here Saturday," Crawford said. "Tigers!!!".

And so will Tarik Black's mom.

"I'm real excited," Black's mother, Judith Moore said. "I am very, very excited, and I could tell that he was relaxed and he was more on his game today."

She was proud of her son's performance, happy for the team and the entire Tiger program.

"It was a good game, a good win," Moore said. "St. Mary's was a good team so it made it a very good game to see."

Two proud moms, getting enough time in to celebrate.

"I'm extremely proud, I was really proud today too," Moore said.  "Looks like Tarik's back."

"I'm proud of the Tigers as a whole!" Crawford said.

Now the Tigers play Michigan State on Saturday. Friday they will have another practice at The Palace, where more Tiger fans are expected to arrive.
