BOLIVAR, TN -

(WMC-TV) - Bolivar Elementary School went into "safe mode" Monday after a former police officer reportedly posted threats to the school and other law enforcement agencies on his personal Facebook page.

Parents began lining up at the school as soon as officials made it aware that threats had been made.

Trent Wilbanks was fired from the Bolivar Police Department after a domestic violence incident with his wife.

On his Facebook page recently, he posted updates that concerned police, school officials, and parents.

It mentioned teachers at the school and said, "lock and load boys cause I'm coming with a vengeance."

School staff was on hand all day to reassure parents.

"At no time was any of the children in any danger while at BES," said Principal James Rutherford.

Shortly after lunch, Bolivar police and the Hardeman County Sheriff's Department arrested Trent Wilbanks at his home on Dixon Road.

Meanwhile, parents are glad he is behind bars.

"I'm actually friends with the guy on Facebook so I read the post but didn't put two and two together until after I'd send my kids to school," said Wendy Spain.

Bolivar Elementary School's principal says letters were sent home with every student Monday afternoon reassuring parents their kids were safe and never in any danger.

Trent Wilbanks is charged with one misdemeanor count of harassment and one felony count of harassment.

He will appear in court Tuesday at 9 a.m. in Hardeman County.  Wilbanks is being held on a $50,000 bond.
