MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) – What was supposed to be the last day of the custody trial for the daughters of slain Memphis Police Officer Martoiya Lang, dragged out into the night with testimony that painted Darius Lang as a violent and absentee father and grandmother Vivian Woods-Taylor as a woman with a gambling problem.

During testimony Tuesday, undercover officers testified they saw Darius Lang acting aggressive with his wife.

One school counselor called DCS on Darius Lang when the child she counsels said her father kicked her.

A woman who worked with Martoiya Lang at her part-time Walmart job says Darius Lang sent disturbing texts to his estranged wife, filled with expletives.

"The girls are going through counseling now, even the smallest one," Lang's cousin, Neicy Morrre said. "We do want there to be time to grieve and then move forward and for the girls to have the best support they need to move forward without their mother."

By the end of the night Tuesday, their grandmother's attorney presented eight witnesses.

Darius Lang has five more and Lang's attorney has six witnesses.

Meanwhile, the children are living in three different homes.

Though the judge is retiring at the end of this week, he found a statute that will allow him to see the case through.

He continued the case until Monday.
