NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WECT/WCSC) -

A deputy with the Onslow County Sheriff's Office who was involved in an apparent road rage incident in North Charleston that went viral online has rescinded his notice of resignation with the office.

According to a press release from the Onslow County Sheriff's Office, Deputy Craig S. Culpepper has agreed to accept reassignment in the detention center and continue his employment as a deputy with the OCSO.

The reassignment stems from an apparent road rage incident that was caught on camera by a Summerville man in North Charleston.

The video, which was posted last week on YouTube, has garnered more than 1.25 million views.

Chad Walton said he began shooting the video after he saw the deputy, Culpepper yelling at him from the cruiser, shortly after Walton had flashed his high beams.

"I politely flashed my high beam lights," said Walton. "When I did that, that's when he initially brake checked me."

The video shows the deputy driving in the left lane of a two-lane section of the road, alongside a SUV.  Walton said the deputy was driving 50 miles per hour, while he was doing about 60 miles per hour.

Onslow County Sheriff Ed Brown said Culpepper was in South Carolina for K-9 training.
