(WMC-TV) – Family and friends gathered Friday night to remember Aaron Vasquez, the teen killed outside the El Toro Loco restaurant where he worked.

Vasquez graduated from St. Benedict where he was involved and well-liked. Friday night's vigil was a chance for former students to get together and remember him.

The cafeteria at St. Benedict School filled with friends and former classmates of 19-year-old Aaron Vasquez.

"He was always laughing and smiling," former classmate Nikki Ferguson said. "I never saw him frowning ever and I wanted to come back and be a part of our St. Benedict family as we grieve him and as we celebrate him."

The teenager's family was also there to remember and grieve.

Velasquez's best friend put the vigil together.

"I just want people to remember he was a great guy," Alex Dowty said. "He never met a stranger. And if he didn't know who you were, he was that guy who would go out of his way to introduce himself to you and become your friend."

Dowty went to El Toro Loco Mexican bar and restaurant to visit his friend hours before Vasquez was attacked and killed. Vasquez was taking out the trash at El Toro Loco where he worked when he was murdered.

Aaron Vasquez was a Sophomore at the University of Memphis . He played in a band with friends he met at St. Benedict.

"I just want people to remember Aaron," Dowty said.

Aaron Vasquez's funeral was Wednesday. No one has been charged in his murder.
