April Fools' Day prank goes too far with AN5 logo

Posted: Updated:

(WMC-TV) - An April Fools' Day prank went too far when a man created a graphic using the Action News 5 logo without consent and said that his friend was knowingly spreading HIV.

The Facebook post and photo asked people to call police and the health department.

The post was shared thousands of times on social media.

Action News 5 was contacted Tuesday morning about the post.

We explained to Facebook friends and callers that the post was not created by Action News 5 but was instead created using the logo and background without consent.

Upon further investigation, we learned it began as an April Fools' Day joke and had been created by a local man.

Action News 5 has a call into the man we believe created the post.
