MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - She had not been seen or heard from in days. Police found her at home...dead.

Detectives will not yet say how Debra Redd died. All they will say is that they are trying to figure out who killed her.

After an intense two days, the people who live on Katherine Lane say it is back to being the quiet street it was before.

"There was a police squad car that stay out here all night observing everything. And they had detectives over here doing their crime scene investigation," said Eric Lyles, who lives nearby.

Police say Debra Redd lived here at 4780 Katherine Lane.

On Tuesday, a family member who had not seen Redd in a few days, requested that police stop by to check on her.

Officers found her lying dead on her bedroom floor.

Initially investigators handled it as a death investigation, but the medical examiner's preliminary autopsy report reveals she was murdered.

Neighbors describe Redd as fun and kind. They say she lived with her brother, but they have not seen him around lately.

As for who killed Debra Redd and why? Investigators say they do not know...yet.

"I hope they do catch 'em. And I'm sure they probably will. It's just a matter of time," said Lyles.

Police say they need help solving this murder and they ask that you call Crime Stoppers at (901) 528-CASH if you have any information that could help.
