Boy, 11, detained after walking into home overnight

Posted: Updated:
NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

An 11-year-old boy could face charges Monday morning for allegedly breaking into a south Nashville home.

It's still unclear if the boy even took anything, but the person who called 911 says the child wasn't supposed to be in her aunt's living room.

Police said the break-in occurred in the 2600 block of Rascoe Drive near Glenrose Avenue.

The intruder was apparently using the bright light from a cell phone as a flashlight as he looked around the living room just before 2:30 a.m.

A 16-year-old girl called police to report the burglary and said one of the adult residents at the home decided to confront the alleged burglar.

Investigators said the boy entered the home through an unlocked door, and the adult resident detained the boy until officers got there.

The family member who called 911 said the boy appeared very disoriented and repeatedly told police he was looking for his cell phone. She said then, when police asked him the year he was born, he said the year 2014.

The teen who called 911 said her family doesn't know the boy who showed up in their living room, and at last check police were still trying to hunt down the boy's mother to let her know what happened.

The boy could face juvenile burglary or attempted burglary charges.
