MESA, AZ (CBS5) -

Mesa police say a man has been arrested in connection to an April murder after being questioned in the hospital on self-inflicted gunshot wounds he had this week.

Gerald Martinez taken into police custody in Scottsdale on Wednesday afternoon.

Police believe he is one of the three masked men who broke into a Mesa home and robbed two men.

A spokesperson for the Mesa Police Department said a 911 call came in about 12:30 a.m. from the house in the 2500 block of E. Hilton Avenue, but no one was talking and there was no sound.

Officers arrived at the house near U.S. 60 and South 24th Street and found Nelson Baker, 22, severely hurt. Baker later died at the hospital.

One other person in the home was hurt but survived. Police said the three suspects left in a black passenger car.

Police seized several plants of marijuana in the home. At this time, they say they can not confirm whether or not that was a motive in the robbery.

Martinez faces charges of murder, kidnapping and armed robbery. Police are still working to arrest the other suspects.
