Former Charleston Southern defensive back Charles James has signed with the New York Giants, team officials announced Saturday night.
James went undrafted in this year's NFL Draft, but was immediately signed as a free agent by the Giants following the draft on Saturday night. He will attend the team's rookie mini-camp next month.
James finished his career at CSU with the school record for interceptions in a single-season (six in 2011) and in a career with 12. He was a two-time FCS All-American selection at cornerback and was named First Team All-Big South three times.
James would go on to earn Defensive MVP honors at the Raycom All-Star Game in January. He joins Stony Brook's Miguel Maysonet and Kevin Norrell, along with Gardner-Webb's Steve Demilio as a few of the early undrafted free agent signees from the Big South.
James graduated from CSU in December with a degree in Communications.
