MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - The woman taken into custody in connection to the shooting death of a 15-year-old in Orange Mound has been released and is not charged.

Action News 5 learned the woman was questioned then released following the shooting of Carderius Webb, who was killed outside of a Memphis Church.

Students at Melrose High School returned to class Tuesday, less than 24 hours after their classmate was shot to death.

In an e-mail sent to staff at the school, it was said that grief counselors will be on hand at the school, along with heightened security.

Investigators say Webb, a sophomore at Melrose High School, was shot and killed while riding his bike on Spottswood Avenue near Mount Olive Baptist Church in Orange Mound.

Fellow students say that Webb, who was also known as "Lil Dude", played football in middle school and was well-liked around the community.

"I know him from the neighborhood, he was a good child, he wasn't bad at all, and he was respectful," said Rodney Wooten, who is a family friend.

"He always be by himself riding his bike and to see something like this, you know I got kids, it really scares you," said another family friend, Desi Riley.

Neighbors say that the woman who was initially taken into custody lives across the street from the church. Her name was not released.
