MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - The family of the 15-year-old high school freshman shot and killed Monday afternoon is mourning the loss as they hope for justice.

A makeshift memorial has risen where Cordarius Webb was shot in Orange Mound, just steps from his own home.

"I want justice for my son and I need them folks off the street," said the teen's mother, Bernestine Webb, about the person who shot her son.

Corderious was a freshman a Melrose High School. He was the youngest of five children.

"You coulda killed me instead of him. I'm ready to die any damn time but you shoulda left my baby here," said Bernestine.

Family members of Corderious say Bernestine had gotten into an argument with another man. That is when they say that man's wife shot the teen.

"He was just riding on his bike and she shot him in his head. Come out the door and shot him in his head," said Cordarius' sister, Angel.

After the shooting, Memphis police took a woman into custody for questioning. She was later released.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.

If you know anything about who might have killed Corderious Webb, call Crime Stoppers at (901) 528-CASH.
