Grizzlies learn from game 1 to prep for game 2

(WMC-TV) - The Grizzlies are preparing for game two in the second round series with a familiar opponent, the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The team took some time to reflect on how they can improve from Sunday's game and bring home a win Tuesday.

The pressure was on Quincy Pondexter in game one to make three free throws to put the game into overtime. But we know how that ended. The first free throw clanked off the rim and the Grizzlies lost by two. An agonizing moment for fans, but par for the course for QPon.

"I'm a tough kid. A tough resilient kid. No matter what, nothing like that is ever gonna bring me down," he said. "I'm looking forward to getting back on the court and if I get in another situation like that I'm gonna knock it down."

"We went out to dinner and to the movies with Q and trying to make sure he was cool. And I was telling him, 'We're built for this situation. Built to handle the positive and built to handle the negative,'" added Mike Conley.

Both teams hit the court for practice Monday morning. The Grizzlies practiced at Chesapeake Energy Arena where they lost game one. The Thunder practiced at their facility away from the arena.

"We just got to regroup that focus going into game two, and we'll be ok. Cause I thought it was a fairly good game. We lost by two, but there's no such thing as moral victories. We just gotta pick up on a few things and we'll be alright," said guard Tony Allen.

The Grizzlies know they missed a golden opportunity to get a leg up in the series and steal away the Thunder's home court advantage, but all is not lost. Memphis can still do what the team came to the arena to accomplish in game two.

"It's real important. It's always important when you're in playoffs on the road, to get at least one. That's our goal tomorrow, we have to come out and be ready," said Grizzlies forward Zach Randolph.
