Setterlund takes Wilson County superintendent job

Posted: Updated:

(WMC-TV) - One of the unified school district's top leaders is leaving for another job.

Assistant superintendent Tim Setterlund was just named director of schools in Wilson County, Tennessee.

He starts July 1st.

The longtime Collierville High School principal has overseen many aspects of the Memphis and Shelby County Schools merger.

Despite his departure, Setterlund is confident the merger will succeed.

"I think what the public will see, is in a very short period of time, some tremendous improvements in the quality of instruction and learning that's taking place in the unified district," he said.

In a statement, interim superintendent Dorsey Hopson said of Setterlund's departure, "Wilson County has hired a top rate superintendent. Although he will be sorely missed, I wholeheartedly support Tim and his decision."
