(WMC-TV) - The former Memphis police officer involved in a crash that killed two people in August has been indicted on two counts of vehicular homicide and three counts of aggravated assault.

Alex Beard, 24, was driving a marked patrol car when he crashed into a car carrying five people.

Mackala Ross, 14, and Deloise Epps, 54, were both killed in the crash. Three others were taken to The MED.

The accident happened at the intersection of E. H. Crump Boulevard and Walnut Street.

The investigation of the accident was done by the Tennessee Highway Patrol Critical Incident Response Team.

Michael Ross is that father of Mackala and fiance' of Deloise. He spoke with Action News 5 about the accident and the officer involved back in February.

"I woke up in the hospital and when I finally got to coming around, they told me my family was dead," said Michael Ross. "I miss them every day. I think about them every day. Sometimes I break down and cry but I have to pray, go on, be strong."

He continued," Sometimes I break down and cry, but I thank the Lord that I'm still here."
