ARLINGTON, TN -

(WMC-TV) - The search is over for an 81-year-old man with dementia who was reported missing Monday morning.

According to police, it appears as though Glover Watkins left his home through a window Sunday night.

His body was found in a ditch off of Forrest Street, about a quarter of a mile east of his home.

Family members of Watkins say he had been suffering from dementia for several years now. His daughter found the window open and her father missing early Monday morning.

"I got faith in God. My heart is heavy right now," said Ida Carouthers-Bryant.

She says she will never forget spending Mother's Day with her dad.

"I had a good day yesterday, went to my mother's grave, cleaned the grass off. My daddy looked like he was doing well, feeling good. We had a good day," she said.

But when Corouthers-Bryant woke up Monday, she noticed her father was gone. She immediately contacted deputies, who began searching near her home.

After about three hours, they found Watkins dead in the ditch.

"I loved him, and he loved me. I did all I could for him," she said.

Deputies say he more than likely became disoriented. Family members say they are not sure what Watkins was looking for outside.

Ida Carouthers-Bryant says her dad moved here to live with her several months ago.

He used to live in Paris, Tennessee.

"I took care of him. I gave him three meals a day, drove him around, took him to my store in Millington. He was happy with me," she said.

Eight years after burying her mother, Carouthers-Bryant says she finds comfort in the fact that her parents are reunited once again.

Shelby County Sheriff's Office officials do not suspect foul play.
