MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - Clinton Lewis, 36, will spend the rest of his life in federal prison for his role in a murder for hire plot that left one man dead.  He was convicted in March 2012 for being a contract killer for a drug ring linked with a Mexican cartel.

Lewis, also known as "Goldie", will not be eligible for parole, as there is no parole in the federal system.

Last year, Lewis was convicted of one count of racketeering conspiracy, two counts of violent crime in aid of racketeering activity, one count of conspiracy to commit murder for hire for his role in the murder of Mario McNeal. He was also convicted on a drug charge and conspiracy to commit money laundering.

He was sentenced to life in prison on all charges, except the money laundering charge, for which he received a sentence of 20 years. All sentences will run concurrently.

The Craig Petties Drug Organization, to which Lewis belonged, is considered the most notorious in Memphis history.
