(WMC-TV) - Memphis' own Sarah Simmons advanced to the next round of NBC's "The Voice" after results were revealed Tuesday night.

Voting for the national competition took place Monday after a live national broadcast.

Viewers voted to keep Simmons on Team Adam. Another Memphis contestant, Kris Thomas, did not advance.

"Thank you, America, for supporting me, again, and keeping me here. I am deeply humbled every time. Love my good friend Kris, and going to miss him, but I know he will be a friend for life," said Simmons. "He is so incredible and is anointed and breathes out heavenly things when he sings.  All the elimination part is so bittersweet."
