Fans rally for Grizzlies’ Coach Hollins

MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) – An outpouring of support for Grizzlies Coach Lionel Hollins was seen on Saturday. Dozens of supporters held an impromptu rally in downtown Memphis to urge the franchise to re-sign Hollins.

There has been a buzz that the Grizzlies could be looking at a new head coach if Hollins and team owners don't reach a contract agreement.

Michael Cunningham says, "People say coaches don't commit; we've got a coach who's committed. We've got a coach who's been through the rough part and now he's been through the good part and we're gonna get rid of him, that doesn't make sense"

Another Hollins supporter, Marron Thomas, told Action News 5, "What he does on the basketball court is one thing and I think it's huge but what he does for the city of Memphis is even greater."

Supporters say Hollins is a role model who invests in the Memphis community on and off the court.
