MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - An elderly woman was found stabbed to death in her home on West Lexington Circle Tuesday evening, according to police.

Family members identified the woman in her 70s as Bobbie Edinbourgh. They said she had just battled breast cancer and lived in the home with her 24-year-old grandson.

Edinbourgh's son said he came to the house, noticed smoke inside, and then found his mother dead on the floor.

Memphis police took the grandson in to ask him some questions. It is unclear if the grandson is a suspect in Edinbourgh's death. No one has been charged in the attack.

Her nephew was shocked to hear someone killed her.

"She give you anything you want. She'd been my favorite aunt, I'm 48 years old," said nephew Albert Leake.

Family members were praying shortly after the incident, trying to understand who would do this to their loved one.

Anyone with information is asked to call the homicide bureau at 901-636-3300.
