MURFREESBORO, TN (WSMV) -

A Murfreesboro family is thankful no one was hurt after a bullet was shot into their home early Wednesday morning.

The homeowner, Robert Reed, and his daughter were watching a movie at home on Annex Court when he says he heard a shot.

"It sounded like something was falling upstairs. We got up, looked and saw the holes in the wall. My wife came out and found a bullet laying in the hall," said Reed.

The bullet penetrated two walls and bounced off the door frame to his youngest daughter's room where she was asleep.

Reed said his family is lucky.

"It's just amazing what a handgun can do to a man's house and his peace of mind when it comes to being in his own house," said Reed.

Murfreesboro police detectives are investigating.
