Shooting suspect in custody after fight involving hat

Posted: Updated:
NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A suspected gunman is in custody after police say he opened fire because the victim knocked his hat off his head.

The incident happened last month in the James Cayce Homes on South Seventh Street.

Detectives said Eric Caruthers confronted another man because he knocked off his hat.

The argument got heated, and Caruthers is accused of shooting the man several times and fleeing the scene.

He was arrested earlier this week after the victim identified him in a photo lineup.
