(WMC-TV) - Casino officials said Paula Deen's Buffet in Tunica, Mississippi will stay open despite the celebrity chef and southern food connoisseur admitting to having used racial slurs in the past.

But it is business as usual down in Tunica – at least for the time being.

When the southern food queen opened her namesake buffet at Harrah's Casino in Tunica she said, "I hope that when people come here that they feel like they have slipped their feet under their mother or grandmother's table just for a few minutes."

Now, there is a chance fewer people will want to cozy up near her kitchen after court records revealed she tolerated racist jokes, condoned pornography in the workplace, and admitted to using racial slurs.

Deen addressed her comments Friday in separate video statements.

"I want to apologize to everybody for the wrong that I've done," she said in the video.

The Food Network announced it would not renew Paula Deen's contract at the end of June despite her public apology.

And the Commission on Religion and Racism in Memphis wants more than an apology, calling for a nationwide boycott of the Food Maven's brand. Members plan to protest Friday afternoon along Highway 61 near the Tunica casino entrances which is near Deen's restaurant in Harrah's.

In the meantime, her buffet in Tunica will serve up. A spokesman for Caesar's Entertainment, which owns Harrah's Casino, sent this statement:

"Paula Deen has acknowledged using a racial slur in the past. As a company with a longstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion, we are deeply disturbed by what we are reading in the press and strongly object to any use of racial epithets. We will continue to monitor the situation."

For now, Caesar's said, Paula Deen's buffet will be open.

Deen herself announced she will be making an appearance on the Today Show Wednesday after standing Matt Lauer up last Friday.

Action News 5 crews asked to get new video of the buffet and speak with patrons Friday, but they were told that would not be possible.
