MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) – Three people were shot dead within three hours early Saturday morning and Memphis Police are still investigating. Action News 5 is learning more about the crimes.

A 66-year-old man was shot and killed during the first of three unrelated homicides, something some of his neighbors had not even heard.

Saturday night, talk about finally forming a neighborhood watch is on the fast track.

Near the intersection of Silver Road and Silver Cove in South Memphis, some say they're ready to do more than just talk about a neighborhood watch.

They're shocked by news that a 66-year-old neighbor was shot and killed inside a house Saturday morning. Police also found a 21-year-old man critically wounded in the same house.

Residents of the area expressed concern that this happened and that they didn't hear any gunshots.

That's probably because it happened around 2:45 Saturday morning.

At the beginning of a three-hour period during which Memphis Police responded to three homicides across the city.

The second happened in the drive-thru lane of the McDonald's restaurant on Ridgeway south of Park.

Police say a 21-year-old was shot and killed by someone in a car he attempted to jump into.

A 29-year-old man was arrested on the scene, but, as if Saturday night, no word on charges.

By 5 o'clock Saturday morning, 54 year-old Patrick Spencer was in custody in connection with his wife's shooting death.

He told police she was accidentally shot in the chest during an argument over insurance inside their Berclair neighborhood home.

Police say Spencer called 911 and was trying to stop the bleeding when officers arrived.

The deadly shooting on Silver Cove is the only case in which no arrests were made.
