MARION, AR -

(WMC-TV) – A Saturday afternoon accident on Interstate 55 Southbound in Arkansas took the lives of three family members. A fourth family member is hospitalized.

An SUV carrying a family of four collided with the back of a tractor trailer near mile marker 9 near Marion. The tractor trailer then hit a sedan.

According to the Arkansas State Police, the driver of the SUV and two passengers, including a 2-year-old, were killed.

The fourth passenger, a 6-year-old child, was taken to LeBonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis.

The driver of the tractor trailer and the driver of the sedan were not injured.

Arkansas State Police shut down the interstate while emergency crews worked to help victims and clear the accident.
