(WMC-TV) - The Fayette County Sheriff's Office said the attempted abduction of an 11-year-old boy is a hoax.

The boy admitted to deputies that he made up the story about being forced into a car while trying to check the mail on Tomlin Road outside of Oakland, TN around 3:00 p.m.

The boy went into detail in his story saying there was a woman in the front seat wearing a hood with a sleep mask with holes cut in it. And that he could see what appeared to be pink hair coming from under the hood.

He said he was forced to remove his clothing and was dropped off about a half mile away from where he was abducted.

The sheriff's office said none of this is true.
