MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - The merger between the Memphis City and Shelby County School systems can be quite confusing.

But now, several Memphis agencies have gotten together to make the process easier for parents and children.

"I think parents are fearful just because of the unknown and that's what the campaign is all about. It's to educate the community on what's happening in the next month and a half," said Randy Kostiuk with the Church Health Center.

Called "Our Children, Our Success", the campaign is a partnership among the Church Health Center, Latino Memphis, The Boys and Girls Club, New Direction Church and others.

It is designed to increase awareness about the merger and the overall educational process.

"The parents are the ones that need to know information about bus stops, dress code, awareness that your child isn't going to go to a different school than last year," said Kostiuk.

At the Church Health Center, parents and kids will take on a six point approach to health of the mind, body and spirit.

"Nutrition, physical activity, self esteem, body image, violence prevention and safety education," said Amanda Newman with the Church Health Center.

The idea of the campaign is to reduce the fear of the unknown when it comes to the school merger.

There are several information sessions for parents and children scheduled during the month of July.

The first is happening July 11 at the Bellevue Impact Ministries in Frayser.
