Former Galtelli’s customers can get shoes back

MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) –After months of having their shoes locked up at a Midtown Memphis shoe shop, some customers are looking forward to getting their foot-wear back.

The old Galtelli's Shoe Repair Shop is being taken over by new owners. The new name for the Union Avenue business is Driver Shoe Repair.

Several months ago when the business was called Galtelli's Shoe Repair, legal and financial problems caused the shop to close abruptly.

Action News 5 aired several reports about how customers were unable to get their shoes back from the closed business even though they had already paid for them.

This week Titus Driver began leasing the building and he says anyone who brought in shoes for repair can stop by and pick them up.

"People have been very understanding. They're appreciating the fact that we are getting their shoes back to them as well as giving them a discount on getting them repaired because they do want them repaired," Driver said.

Galtelli's long time employees now have new jobs with Driver Shoe Repair.

The shop also has new hours. It will open Monday through Friday eight to five o'clock at its location in Midtown.
