New details in Henderson suspension

Posted: Updated:

(WMC-TV) - More information is coming out about what got Ole Miss basketball player Marshall Henderson suspended from the team.

The Oxford police chief says the Rebel guard appeared to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana and cocaine during a traffic stop in May.

Chief Joey East said officers told him Henderson was "very cooperative" during the stop and "it's not uncommon" for police to find small amounts of a suspected controlled substance but file no charges because of a cooperative suspect.

Henderson, a 6-foot-2 senior, was suspended indefinitely by coach Andy Kennedy Wednesday for "violation of team rules," but no other reason was given.
