An Evansville man has been arrested on sexual abuse and criminal confinement charges.

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office says the alleged incident happened on July 7th around 6:30 in the evening at 816 N First Ave.

Deputies say the victim and a co-worker were on a break outside the Golden Living Center when 46-year-old Eugene Meyer, of Evansville, came up to them and asked to talk to a resident.

Officials say after speaking with Meyer for a short time and telling him the person he wanted to see didn't live there anymore the victim's co-worker went back inside the building, leaving the victim and Meyer alone.

The victim told deputies as soon as her co-worker left Meyer's demeanor immediately changed.

She told deputies that she and Meyer then shared a mutual hug before she went back inside, but when she tried to pull away from the hug, the victim says Meyer would not let her go.  She says she continued to try to pull away, but couldn't because Meyer was holding her so tight.

The victim told deputies when she was finally able to get free Meyer touched her chest and was noticeably aroused.

Deputies say Meyer left the scene at that time and they were contacted by the victim.

While investigating deputies learned that the person Meyer was originally tried to find was now living at Select Specialty Hospital. The hospital was notified to be on the lookout for Jones in case he showed up.

Shortly after that deputies say they were told by dispatch that Meyer was in the lobby of Select Specialty Hospital.

Deputies confronted Meyer about what happened at Golden Living Center and say he eventually admitted to it.

Meyer was arrested and taken to the Vanderburgh County Detention Center on a $500 bond.
