COVINGTON, TN -

(WMC-TV) - A Covington man who weighed more than 700 pounds at his heaviest is still dropping the weight.

Action News 5's Justin Hanson first introduced you to Charles Wolfe in February, when he had dropped to 400 pounds. Where is he now? Tipton County's "biggest loser" is losing even more weight in an effort to be healthy and stay alive.

Wolfe is a type II diabetic, who says he depended on fast food and did not get much exercise because he was not able to walk. He has not been able to get behind the wheel in 15 years. Until now, driving had been a dream.

Wolfe is still recovering from a skin removal surgery he had just two weeks ago. Forty pounds of excess skin was removed from his body.

"When I went to walking, it was strange not to have that excess hanging in front jiggling," he said. "I have people I haven't seen in years tell by the sound of my voice I sound better and I say I feel better."

Wolfe's ideal weight is 250 pounds.

In addition to gastric bypass, Wolfe has also changed his lifestyle to lose the weight.

"I look in the mirror, look at pictures and it's like, I can't believe it," he added.

When he holds up his old jeans, a size 66, Wolfe says he just cannot believe what used to be.

Just this week, he went shopping for new coveralls for the first time in years.

"It was nice to go in the store instead of ordering out of a catalog," said Wolfe.

Wolfe is still visiting the doctor every week to make sure everything is healing properly. He says he will more than likely face a knee surgery or two in the months to come.
