Officials confirm identity of man killed in apparent accident

MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - The body found around 1:30 a.m. Monday is confirmed to be that of Melvin Taylor, Jr., who had been missing since Friday.

Taylor, 62, was in Northaven visiting his son when he went missing. He was driving a 2011 JONW moped-style motorcycle.

His body was found on North Second Street between DeWitt Spain Airport and the Wolf River. Investigators believe he died as the result of a crash.

According to the missing persons report, Taylor had a history of high blood pressure and had quad bypass surgery. Action News 5 is working to learn more about his death and whether any of those conditions played a factor.
