Scholastic changes may come to Lakeland and Arlington

(WMC-TV) - As the start of the unified school board inches closer and closer, scholastic adjustments may also be on the agenda for Arlington and Lakeland.

Mayor Wissman stated, "[the schools] could combine their school systems because they're so close to each other and have a lot in common."

However, before discussing the option in detail, both Mayor Wissman and Unified School Board Chairman Billy Orgel realize there still are challenges ahead with the unified school systems.

"We're all one community. ...I guess we'll all wake up tomorrow to the reality that we're gonna have 6-7 school systems in Shelby County; but, we should work together" stated Orgel.

"We're very happy with the numbers we're very happy with those that are in support of it and we're going to plan on moving forward and doing what's best for this community" concurred Wissman.
