WEST MEMPHIS, AR -

(WMC-TV) - A Mid-South man claims a home has been sitting abandoned for years causing a bug and animal problem in his neighborhood.

Tommy Gaspard said the problem has been going on for years and wants it fixed.

From the sidewalk, the property at 903 Clement Road in West Memphis does not look bad. Take a look out back, and it is a different story.

"It's like a city dump almost," said Gaspard. "The back yard has an in-ground pool that's full of bullfrogs and mosquitoes. And when then wind coming in from the south, then the smell comes over when we're in the backyard."

Tommy Gaspard has lived in the area for more than 20 years, but three years ago his neighbors abandoned their home. And for three years it has been problem after problem.

"We're tired of it," he said. "It's just making the whole neighborhood look bad."

First thieves broke in and stole the wiring and appliances. Now, he says once a month someone comes to take care of the property, but just this month that person left behind human feces.

A quick search of the property and the Action News 5 Investigators found it belonged to Bank of America with an address listed in Texas but not a phone number.

Gaspard did not receive the answers he was hoping for. The city suggested the health department about the waste in the front yard.

"What we're trying to do is get them to take some responsibility for the house and get them to clean it up," he said. "I know it's not the city's job, but it seems like the city could help us get them to get involved."

The Action News 5 Investigators will continue pushing for answers.
