Sales tax holiday weekend coming up in Mississippi

MISSISSIPPI -

(WMC-TV) - Mississippi's sales tax holiday is coming up this weekend.

On Friday and Saturday, shoppers in most cities and towns across the state can buy clothing and shoes without paying the 7 percent sales tax. You can enjoy this tax holiday at any store that sells clothing and shoes.

Although your total bill can exceed $100 and be tax-exempt, each single item you purchase must be under $100 to be eligible.  For example, a $120 pair of shoes will not be tax-exempt, but two pair of shoes at $90 each will be tax-exempt.

Keep in mind that backpacks and school supplies will not be tax-exempt. Click here for a full list of what you can get without paying tax this Friday and Saturday.
