Police discover man threatening president through phone calls

(WMC-TV) - Federal investigators discovered a man threatening the president through phone calls with former Shelby County 'house-squatter' Tabitha Gentry.

Gentry is still incarcerated in the Shelby County Jail on charges of theft of property over $250,000 and assaulting two police officers.

According to U.S. Attorney Edward L. Stanton III, 39-year-old Darrin Young (informally known as Darrin Fleming) has been charged with threatening the life of President Barack Obama.

Investigators first became aware of the threat around July 11, 2013 when a conversation was recorded between Young and Gentry. Parts of the conversation are below:

The male voice (later identified as Young) stated he has a "plan" to "burn" President Obama."

Young is in custody awaiting an initial appearance. This case has been investigated by the United States Secret Service.
