Quakers concerned after burglars rob house of worship

Posted: Updated:

(WMC-TV) - Memphis Quakers are concerned tonight after two burglaries occur in one week at their house of worship.

"It's been sad, frustrating, and it's a challenge for us to know how to best respond," stated Quaker Joanne Rhodes.

There isn't any stained glass or steeple at what was once a private home at Walnut Grove and Prescott. However, there used to be a wall mounted flat-screen, Apple TV system, and DVD player in the room used for the children' ministry. All gone after burglars came through the window.

Rhodes feels like the children were the ones the most affected.

"I feel like they lost more than anybody," said Rhodes.

Several notes are now posted on the door of the meeting house. One of them reads 'nothing of value is here except people'.

The Quakers are planning an "alternative to violence workshop" in the fall.

If you have any information regarding the burglaries, please call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH.
