Ashland City mother killed in crash

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

An Ashland City mother died in a car crash on Saturday on Ashland City Highway near Briley Parkway.

According to Metro Police, Elizabeth Staley, 34, was driving in a Ford Explorer with her 7-year-old son, when she drove into oncoming traffic and sideswiped a Dodge Grand Caravan.

The Explorer rolled over into a wooded area, and Staley died at the scene.

Staley's son was taken to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital with non-critical injuries. The driver and passenger in the Dodge were also transported to Centennial Medical Center with non-critical injuries.

Police still do not know why Staley crossed into oncoming traffic, but they do not believe alcohol or drugs were involved. Police also note, everyone involved in the crash were wearing seatbelts.
