MURFREESBORO, TN (WSMV) -

Murfreesboro police have arrested a suspect in a cold case homicide investigation more than a year old.

Michael Tusie, of Walter Hill, TN, is accused of killing 46-year-old Ellis Wayne Smith, whose body was discovered March 9, 2012, at a vacant house in the 900 block of Southeast Broad Street.

Police say detectives received new leads in recent days that led them to interview Tusie as a possible suspect. During that interview, police said, Tusie provided specific information that confirmed he was allegedly responsible in the death.

Investigators said Smith was killed after an argument over an EBT card.

Tusie is faces a charge of second-degree murder and is jailed without bound.

He is due in court for a hearing Sept. 19.
