Haslam accused of violating state ethic laws

Posted: Updated:

(WMC-TV) - An ethics complaint against Tennessee governor Bill Haslam is accusing him of violating state ethic laws.

The head of the State Democratic Party, Chip Forrester, claims the Republican Haslam is refusing to disclose payments he made to a former campaign consultant and lobbyist named Tom Ingram.

"It bothers me that our governor is not willing to be transparent about a very powerful relationship where there seems to be large sums of money," declared Forrester.

Governor Haslam's office would not comment but did state the governor is aware of the complaint.

A spokesperson for Tom Ingram called the filing a politically motivated stunt.
