Palmetto Christian quarterback J.T. Waters collected over 600 yards of total offense and 8 total TD's helping the Eagles pull off an upset with a 62-49 win at Porter-Gaud in the first high school football game of the 2013 season.
Waters rushed for 308 yards and 6 touchdowns. He would also throw for 296 yards and 2 TD's.
PCA would get on the board first with a 1 yard TD run from Ryan Roe to take a 6-0 lead. From there Porter-Gaud took over for the rest of the 1st quarter. They'd convert an interception and a recovered onside kick into touchdowns to take a 21-6 lead.
That's when Waters would take control.
Touchdown runs of 2 and 22 yards would put the Eagles up 22-21. After the Cyclones scored to take the lead back, Waters added a 76 yard scoring run to go up 30-28.
He saved his play of the night for just before the end of the half.
With under 10 seconds to go, Waters eluded 3 would be tackles and heaved a 40 yard TD to Andrew Johnstone to give PCA a 36-28 lead at the half.
Porter-Gaud put up some impressive numbers as well. Quarterback Steven Duncan threw for 297 yards and 5 TD's and WR Foster Moe had 3 TD catches and 206 yards receiving in the loss.
Both teams will be in action on Friday in the Sertoma Classic at Johnson Hagood Stadium. Palmetto Christian will kickoff the night against Garrett. Porter-Gaud will face Northwood Academy.
