Second adult faces charges following after school fight, stabbing

MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - Another adult faces criminal charges as the result of an after school girl fight that ended with two teenagers getting stabbed.

Andrea Jennings, 43, is accused of filing a false police report Tuesday morning.

Monday afternoon, a fight broke out between two sets of girls in the neighborhood around Raleigh-Egypt High School. Valerie Potts, mother to one of the girls, witnessed the fight. Witnesses told police Potts then pulled a knife and stabbed two of the girls. Potts was arrested Monday evening and charged with two counts of aggravated assault.

Tuesday morning, police say Jennings showed up at the office at Raleigh-Egypt High School and told the school resource officer that she witnessed the fight and that Potts did not stab anyone. Jennings "described and pointed out the student she saw in the office as the responsible person for producing the knife in the fight," according to the affidavit of complaint.

Investigators questioned Jennings further, but police say she gave conflicting statements, none of which matched the evidence or other witness statements. Police say Jennings "then stated she was not sure about the incident that occurred and she couldn't truthfully state what happened."

Jennings is locked up at 201 Poplar on $4,000 bond. Potts remains locked up at 201 Poplar on 80,000 bond. Both women are due in court August 28th.
