Tennessee is gearing up for it's opener on Saturday night against Austin Peay, a game that will not only mark the official start of the Butch Jones era, but put quarterback Justin Worley square in the spotlight as the Vols starter.
Jones making it official earlier this week, naming Worley his guy for the opener against the Governors.
The Junior QB spent the last 2 seasons as backup to Tyler Bray, completing 63 passes for 738 yards, one touchdown and five interceptions in 9 games.
Worley is the only quarterback on the Vols roster with actual game-time under his belt, but Jones says experience aside, his quarterback is a work in progress.
"He still has some improvement to go, says Jones. Just like everyone on our team learning leadership. It's like I told Justin yesterday, it's one thing to lead when things are going great, the mark of a great quarterback is leading your team to victory at the one minute mark on the road. Having that poise and that confidence that it takes to manage an entire offense."
Tennessee and Austin Peay kickoff 5 o'clock central time in Knoxville.
The game is available on pay per view.
