(WMC-TV) - Two W.M. Barr and Company employees were rushed from President's Island to the hospital after the Memphis Fire Department was called about a container with hazardous materials exploding.

Around 7:00 p.m., officials say crews responded to an explosion involving two drums filled with a potentially hazardous substance at 2015 Channel Ave near Wharf Street.

There was a quick fire, but it was quickly contained. It is unclear if hazardous materials have been found in the area. Crews are still investigating.

Two people were taken to The MED as a precautionary measure after they were sprayed down. Officials say they were not injured.

Approximately 42 employees from W.M. Barr and Company were evacuated. Traffic was blocked for a time on Channel Avenue, it but is moving again.
