Rock for Love event aims to help Memphians

(WMC-TV) - An event at Overton Park is aiming to help patients afford quality health care.

Saturday afternoon, bands played in the park as a part of Rock for Love's four-day concert series to benefit the Church Health Center in Memphis.

"There are a bunch of different organizations represented. Volunteer Odyssey is one of (them and) we're handing out information about how to volunteer in the community. But, there are tons of great booths down here. You can come and check out lots of things show casing all the amazing that we have here in Memphis," stated volunteer Sarah Petschonek.

The event moves to the Levitt Shell at 6 p.m. Saturday. It continues through Sunday.

The schedule is as follows:

Saturday evening at the Levitt Shell:

  • Mark Stuart w/ Kait Lawson – 6:00 p.m.
  • Patrick Dodd – 7:00 p.m.
  • John Kilzer – 8:00 p.m.
  • Kirk Whalum – 9:00 p.m.

Saturday's afterparty will be at the Young Avenue Deli:

  • DJ Devin Steel
  • Mighty Souls Brass Band – 10:00
  • Dead Soldiers – 10:45
  • Memphis Dawls – 11:30
