New cases of West Nile Virus found in Mid-South

HINDS COUNTY, MS -

(WMC-TV) – The Mississippi State Department of Health reports that four new cases of the West Nile Virus are confirmed in Mississippi; one each in Lamar County and Rankin County and two cases in Hinds County.

This brings the state total to 27 so far in 2013.

Mississippi's only death from the virus this year was reported in early July in Bolivar County.

The health department advises year-round precautions against mosquitoes, which spread the virus.
