The South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Spencer Carbery announced today that the team has agreed to terms with first-year forward Lindsay Sparks. In keeping with club policy, details of the agreement were not disclosed.

Sparks, 23, recently completed a four-year collegiate career at the University of Michigan and appeared in three games with the ECHL's Fort Wayne Komets adding two assists last season. With the Wolverines, the Oakville, Ontario, native totaled 35 points (17 goals, 18 assists) in 83 games and helped the team capture the CCHA Championship in 2010 and reach the NCAA Frozen Four title game in 2011 alongside current Stingrays defenseman Scooter Vaughan.

"Lindsay is a player that can bring a lot of offensive ability to our group," said Carbery. "He's hungry to prove that he can produce at the pro level and be counted on in that role. We are looking forward to seeing what he's capable of while helping him develop his overall game."

Before college, Sparks skated three seasons of junior hockey with the Oakville Blades of the OPJHL and OJHL registering 109 points (34 goals, 75 assists) in 111 contests and winning the OJHL championship in 2008.
