The South Carolina State University men's basketball program has released its 2013-14 schedule, a slate that includes 13 home games, and 16 road contest including conference and non-conference play.
"This upcoming schedule is challenging but exciting for our basketball program", said SC State head coach Murray Garvin. "As we all know there are no easy games in college basketball and we have to come with our best each and every night."
The Bulldogs will open the season against neighboring rival Claflin University in the annual "Garden City Classic" at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center, before heading to Huntington, WV to take on Marshall University on Nov.11. SC State will then make the journey to Ann Arbor, MI to take on last season's NCAA runner-up the Wolverines of Michigan on Nov.12.
From there, the Bulldogs will travel to the corn husker state to take on the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, Neb on Nov.17, and Nebraska Omaha in Omaha, Neb on Nov.19, before returning home to host a pair of teams to close out the month of November in Voorhees College on Nov. 23 and Nebraska Omaha on Nov. 26 to close out the home series.
SC State will then hit the road to battle ACC foe and intrastate rival Clemson University in Clemson, SC on Dec. 3, before returning home for a pair of contests against Georgia Southern on Dec.7 and Coastal Carolina on Dec.17 at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center. The Bulldogs wrap up their series against Coastal Carolina when they face the Chanticleers for the second time in Conway, SC on Dec. 30.
After the holiday, the Bulldogs travel to Columbia, SC to take on South Carolina on Jan. 3, while returning home to open conference play against Maryland-Eastern Shore in a 7:30 p.m. showdown.
The bulk of the conference play will begin when they head to Baltimore, MD to take on Morgan State (Jan.11) and Coppin State (Jan.13), before returning home for a four-game stand against Florida A&M (Jan.18), Bethune-Cookman (Jan. 20), Norfolk State (Jan. 25) and Hampton (Jan. 27).
Three straight road games follow, starting with Florida A&M (Feb. 1), Bethune-Cookman (Feb. 3), and Delaware State (Feb. 8), before returning home to face NC Central (Feb.15), N.C. A&T (Feb.17) and Savannah State (Feb. 22).
SC State will end the regular season on the road with stops at NC Central (March 1) in Durham, NC, N.C. A&T (March 3) in Greensboro, NC and Savannah State (March 6) in Savannah, GA.
The 2014 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament will be held March 10-15 at the Norfolk Scope Arena.
