DYERSBURG, TN -

(WMC-TV) - A Dyersburg man is charged with a second DUI, among other charges, after police say he hit a 10-year-old boy with a car, then drove away.

Just after 2 p.m. Sunday, police were called after the victim told his mother he was hit by a dark-colored car. The accident happened on Price Street in Dyersburg.

The child said he had been knocked down, but was able to walk home and tell his mother what happened. She then called police.

The boy was taken to Dyersburg Regional Hospital by ambulance.

Police located the suspect's damaged vehicle parked on Custer Street, less than a half mile from where the boy was hit.

The driver of the car, Johnnie Reed, Jr., was arrested. He is charged with DUI second offense, violation of the implied consent law, driving on a suspected or revoked license sixth offense, and leaving the scene of an accident.
